General Description of the Organization
The Information Technology Department (ITD) provides essential central IT systems, including software, hardware, and network services required for academic research, educational programs, and the operation of administrative units. To elevate Karabük University's IT capabilities to a level comparable with leading global institutions, the department keeps pace with technological advancements.
A) Responsibilities:

To provide electronic services, including software, hardware, and network solutions, based on the principles of modern civilization and current technology, in line with the principles and goals of Atatürk, to meet the needs of our academic, administrative, and student communities as well as scientific research.

To prioritize the communication freedoms of our academic and administrative staff and students by providing email support, computer laboratories, and internet access.

To enhance the quality of life of the Turkish society and to enlighten the public by researching advanced technologies and scientific developments, and to offer these services to all our personnel.

To create and deploy wireless network connections within the campus area to provide internet access for academic and administrative staff and students.

To implement automation systems that allow academic staff to upload course materials to the internet, ensuring that they can enter their notes electronically even when not on campus.

To implement automation systems that enable students to monitor their grades online, allowing them to view their grades even when off-campus.

To develop, utilize, and disseminate educational technologies.

C) Authority, Duties, and Responsibilities: The IT Department is responsible for the establishment and operation of the internet network within Karabük University. This includes setting up, operating, and updating the infrastructure required to ensure access to IT resources for academic and administrative units in line with their educational and R&D activities. The IT Department ensures the proper functioning of the main network access points identified or to be identified in academic and administrative units, handles necessary cabling activities, and supplies and installs the necessary network devices for user connectivity. The responsibility and authority for the technical planning and implementation of the system rest with the IT Department. The IT Department is not responsible for connections in rooms, offices, and laboratories outside of the main access points in buildings; these are the responsibility of the respective units or departments. However, the IT Department can provide consultancy and technical support when needed and upon request.
Users of Karabük University's IT resources are individually responsible for the content of any documents, software, or other resources (including those created or assigned to them) on Karabük University's servers, as well as for providing accurate and complete information about the use of these resources if requested by authorized authorities. Users must adhere to the rules of resource usage, university regulations, laws of the Republic of Turkey, and associated regulations.
